The Department of Agricultural Engineering was initiated in 1997. It offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in pomology, olericulture, ornamental horticulture, greenhouse crops production, medicinal plants, and irrigation science. Today, this department hosts more than 121 graduate students, and 10 full-time academic staff. In addition to providing educational laboratories and facilities for supplementing the courses, the department accommodates more than 4 highly specialized research laboratories and 3 greenhouse units directed by faculty members. Research activities in the agricultural sector include various items that are described below.
Biotic and Abiotic stresses (drought, salinity, temperature, etc.).
Crop breeding and Biotechnology.
Sustainable agriculture.
Production of tropical and subtropical plants.
Post-harvest physiology.
The Agricultural Engineering department has 10 full-time faculty members and 121 Graduate students.
